Châlons-en-Champagne is the prefecture of the Marne department (51), and the home of the most of the department’s administrative structures.

The Châlons-en-Champagne agricultural show is the second in France after Paris.

Very easy to access thanks to the motorway axis of the  A4 and the A34.

By motorway, the town is 189 km from Paris, 191 km from Roissy Charles De Gaulle, 26 km from Vatry airport and 51 km from Reims.

Town population of 47,338, with 72,902 people living in the “Cités en Champagne” area.

38 communes make up the greater Châlons-en-Champagne area: Aigny – Aulnay-sur-Marne –Bussy-Lettrée – Champigneul-Champagne – Cheniers – Cherville – Compertrix – Condé-sur-Marne –Coolus – Dommartin-Lettrée – L’Epine –Fagnières – Les grandes-Loges – Haussimont – Isse – Jâlons – Juvigny – Lenharrée – Matougues – Moncetz-Longevas – Montépreux – Recy – Saint-Etienne-au-Temple – Saint-Gibrien – Saint-Martin-sur-le-Pré – Saint-Memmie – Saint-Pierre – Sarry – Sommesous – Soudé – Soudron – Thibie – Vassimon-et-Chapelaine – Vatry – La Veuve – Villers-Le-Château – Vraux.

Many of these are agricultural communes, but there are also some inductrial and commercial zones. Vatry airport is also part of the area.
